JEFFERY CORNWELL
“From the moment of
birth we are confronted with a journey, roads each abundant with mystery.
Imagery and elements contained in my artwork such as the sky and clouds are
references to the common bond we all as travelers share. Our roads may vary.
Imagery and elements may change on that journey, yet we are all sheltered under
the same sky.”
Mr. Cornwell has been pursuing a series of paintings that
look to the sky, to take us on a journey that encourages us to explore our own
unconscious. His works exhibit a facility for capturing the beauty of light and
mood in various sky and cloud forms as they relate to the horizon. It is within
these unique environments, which are familiar to the viewer, as well as holding
an element of mystery, that Mr. Cornwell places the viewer.
The sky symbolizes our relationship with both the world we
live in and the greater universe as a whole. He notes that as individuals, we
are all sheltered under the same sky. It is this common journey that we all
experience under the same sky that leads us on our own individual paths in the
universe for an exploration of our unconscious.
